Creating new specifications

To effectively manage your product specifications, start by navigating to the 'Catalog' tab, 'Specifications'. This is where you can access a list of your existing specifications.

  • Step 1: To add a new specification, click on the 'Add New' button. This action opens up a form to create a new specification.
  • Step 2: Enter a name for your new specification. This could be anything relevant to your products, such as 'Color,' 'Size,' or 'Material.'
Optionally, you can add a detailed description. This helps provide additional context or instructions about the specification.
  • Step 3: Select the 'Attribute Type' for your specification. Choose from options like a single option, multi-option, custom text, or a rich text editor. If you opt for 'Custom Text,' you can specify whether it's a 'String,' 'Decimal,' or 'Date.'
Using 'Option' or 'Multi-Option' for color specifications is recommended because it prevents mistakes and makes things easier:
- Prevents Mistakes:
By giving a list of colors to choose from, you avoid errors like misspellings. This keeps your product data consistent and reliable.
- Makes Things Easier:
It's quicker and simpler to pick a color from a list than to type it out each time. This saves time and effort, especially when you have many products to manage.

Creating multilingual specifications

KatanaPIM supports multilingual specifications. This feature ensures that your specifications are accessible and understandable in various international channels.

  • Step 1: Select the language from the top bar in which you want to translate your specification.
  • Step 2: Translate the name and description of the specification into the selected language, like Dutch or French.

Adding specification options

  • Step 1: In your specification, under the tab 'Options', click on 'Add a New Option.' For instance, if your specification is 'Color,' you might add options like 'Green,' 'Blue,' or 'Red.'
  • Step 2: Once you've added an option, such as 'Green,' save it to include it in your specification options.

Translating specification options

To make these options multilingual, click on the 'Edit' button next to each option. Here, you can add translations for each option.
